Adaptive Tennis

What is Adaptive Tennis?
The game of tennis can be adapted to accommodate any age, environment, condition or disability. USTA Colorado seeks to promote and develop recreational tennis opportunities for individuals with varying abilities and circumstances through inclusion, knowledge and support.

We support programming for individuals with physical, developmental and situational challenges through recreational and competitive tennis opportunities. Individuals with varying abilities are welcome to the sport and those more highly skilled are even able to compete in sanctioned USTA leagues and tournaments if they choose.

Through a close partnership with Special Olympics Colorado individuals can learn and play tennis in the summer with opportunities to continue into national and worldwide competitions and even sanctioned USTA leagues and tournaments.

More coaches allows the program to grow. Coaching resources and training equip program providers to reach out to a broader audience. Check out this video to hear from one of Colorado’s top adaptive coaches on the impact you can have.

Rise to the Possible

Inspired by the vision, dedication and legacy of Vicky Matarazzo, long-time USTA Colorado volunteer and Volunteer Tennis Director for Special Olympics Colorado, USTA Colorado introduced the fourth installment of the critically acclaimed Breaking the Barriers portrait series, Rise to the Possible, celebrating adaptive tennis pioneers, contributors and rising stars in Colorado.
