Steamboat adds Osterloh to staff

Lilia (Osterloh) Snape, Member of the Stanford Tennis Hall of Fame, 13 year veteran of the WTA tour and formerly ranked #41 in the world, has joined the team at the Tennis Center at Steamboat. She and her new husband, Danny, will be in Steamboat November 1.  

Loretta and Bill Conway, the Center’s Business Development Director and Head Professional respectively, joined Center Concessionaires Stacy and Jim Swiggart in the announcement this week.

Said Bill “There is a contagious excitement at the Center regarding us having a former WTA Champion make Steamboat her home. We know the community at large will welcome another world class athlete to the ‘Boat.”.

Lilia's accomplishments include NCAA singles and team championship wins for Stanford University 1996-1997. Playing on the WTA Tour, she reached the 4th round of singles at the US Open and Wimbledon, reaching a career high singles ranking of #41 and #77 in doubles. Over her career Lilia accumulated wins over Mary Pierce, Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario, Conchita Martinez and Jennifer Capriati.

Lilia was inducted into the Stanford Hall of Fame in 2010 honoring her achievements and contributions to the sport. She began coaching at the Kim Grant Tennis Academy in Palo Alto and continued to coach while earning her degree in International Relations at Stanford University. She was a Volunteer Assistant Coach for the Stanford University Women's Tennis Team and later became an Assistant Coach at Harvard University. Her last role was the Assistant Director at the historical Worcester Tennis Club. 

Lilia will immediately begin teaching juniors in the Center’s Junior Tennis Academy and be available for private instruction for all ages and levels of players.    

The Tennis Center is hosting a ‘Meet and Greet’ for Lilia and Danny on Friday, November 7th from

6:30 pm – 8:00 pm. There will be food, drinks and fun tennis doubles. The event is free. Please register by calling 970/879-8400.
