Team Springs launches in 2014

August 14, 2014 12:15 PM
Team Springs is a community-wide junior tennis program for kids 9-14

A new junior tennis training program will launch in September, utilizing The Broadmoor Tennis Club as the main “training hub”. This program, funded by the El Pomar Foundation and the Pikes Peak Community Tennis Association, is designed for the top 16 junior tennis players ages 9-14 in the Pikes Peak area who are seeking a serious tennis program that will allow them to train and travel with other juniors their age and ability level on a monthly basis. This program is fully funded, so there is no cost to the junior players selected.

The “Team Springs” participants will be selected from a pool of applicants who display an exceptionally high level of motivation to improve. The group of 16 will be divided into two core groups of eight. These players, ages 9-14, must represent Team Springs with outstanding sportsmanship and integrity on and off the court.

Inclusion in this program will be based on very specific criteria, including tournament results, rankings, recommendations from local tennis professionals and teachers, scholastics and sportsmanship. Financial eligibility will not be a factor, as funds will be available to support players from low income families and areas, including our public parks.

Applications for scholarships are due on Friday, August 29th. Successful candidates will be notified no later than Monday, September 8th.
